Design Engineer (Mechanical)

Design Engineers with excellent CREO or Solidworks CAD software skills are required for an interesting and varied permanent opportunity in the Midlands, to work on our Client's range of off-highway vehicles.
Our client manufactures backhoe loaders, dumpers, light equipment and agricultural telescopic holders. They are a global manufacturer and are the world's third largest manufacturer of construction equipment. They are now recruiting for Design Engineers to join their busy team.
Design Engineer Role:
To provide design support during New Product Developments and design support for current product range.
Support the generation and delivery of concept and manufacturing design definitions, based on technical specifications, requirements, costs and other constraints.
Support the conceptual development for new products.
Participate in maintaining relevant engineering processes and procedures.
Supporting the identification of business opportunities.
Problem solving on existing products and product improvement.
Support the evaluation of technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions.
Support assigned projects, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan and budget.
Working alongside the customer on product development ensuring delivery of solutions to meet the customer's requirements.
Keeping up to date in relevant technical areas, developing skills and capabilities, and giving support to others as required.
Actively participate in business unit improvement activities.
Basic 40hrs per week to be completed on-site between 7.30am and 5.00pm Mon to Thurs and 7.30am to 2.00pm Friday.
Design Engineer Requirements:
HND or suitable mechanical engineering design experience.
Experience of 3D CAD design.
Experience in the use of PRO-Engineer/CREO-6/SAolidworks is essential, in particular, Piping, Drafting, Surfacing, Large assemblies, Sheet metal, Cabling, Detail drawings modules.
Experience of Windchill data management is highly desirable.
Microsoft Office.
Experience of Welded fabrications, Plastic mouldings, Large assemblies, BS. 8888 drawing standards.
Have a hands-on approach to engineering design and development.
Appreciation of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems as used on off-highway mobile products may be useful.
Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems including pipe and cable routing.
Experience of designing plastic components, including the use of Surface modelling techniques.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Excellent technical aptitude.
Previous experience of engineering projects/activities.
Planning and priority setting.
Interest in vehicle mechanics.
