Instructor (Construction) – Barnsley College - Permanent - £26,298 to £30,375 per annum

We are looking for a trained industry professional with experience of either Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery or Plumbing, to join our highly skilled teaching team as an Instructor. This is a brand-new, exciting role within our Construction team supporting student growth and development. As our new Instructor, you will deliver practical competence skills-based training to young people looking to move into industry trade routes, or adults looking to upskill or change career. You will also assist with practical skills-based training by providing workshop support.

Barnsley College was once the first College in South Yorkshire to offer a range of T Levels and we have now been offering the pioneering new qualifications for over three years. Our new Instructor will support the trades specialists of the future to ensure competency in a range of practical activities, using industry standard materials and methods to complete projects relevant to traditional and modern-day situations.

This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced industry trades person that is looking to move into a teaching role, as dedicated support will be provided no matter your level of experience. If you have previous experience working as a Bricklayer, Carpenter, Joiner or Plumber, and have mentored new starters or apprentices during your time working in the industry, this is the first step to moving into a new career within education. You will work as part of our established delivery team to support all aspects of either the Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery or Plumbing curriculum. You will deliver independent sessions and support Teachers and Lecturers to ensure lessons are delivered effectively and in line with college standards.

Barnsley College is a grade 1 provider of high-quality education with state-of-the-art facilities. In this post, you will be based at our CUBE construction centre in Honeywell sports village that is fully equipped with the latest technology used in construction.
