Job Purpose:
Plastic Processing supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Plastic Processing operations during the night shift.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Directly supervising a team of production workers during the night shift, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols, quality standards, and production schedules.
* Monitoring production processes to ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications. This may involve conducting inspections, troubleshooting defects, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
* Overseeing the setup, operation, and maintenance of injection moulding and extrusion machinery, including troubleshooting any technical issues that arise during the shift.
* Providing training and guidance to production workers to ensure they understand and follow standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
* Collaborating with production planning teams to schedule production runs, allocate resources, and prioritize orders to meet customer demand and production targets.
* Monitoring raw material and component inventory levels to ensure adequate supply for production runs and coordinating with procurement teams to reorder supplies as needed.
* Maintaining accurate records of production activities, including production outputs, machine maintenance, quality inspections, and any incidents or issues encountered during the shift. Generating reports for management review.
* Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, conducting safety inspections, and addressing any safety concerns or hazards promptly.
* Identifying opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost savings within the operation. Implementing changes and initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
* Serving as a liaison between management, production teams, maintenance staff, and other departments to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
* Problem Solving: Addressing any production issues or challenges that arise during the night shift, implementing solutions, and escalating issues to higher management as necessary.
* Providing strong leadership and guidance to the night shift production team, fostering a positive work environment, and motivating employees to achieve production targets and quality goals.
Personal Profile:
* A leader who is self-motivated and focused on the short/ medium/ long term requirements.
* Able to collect and analyse data in developing a strategy and approach for implementation.
* Working knowledge of 5S and lean principals.
* Computer literate and able to develop KPI’s and reports.
* Able to identify and develop training needs for the team improve overall efficiencies and performance. Leadership and Team Management

Education and/or Experience
* ILM Level 3 or similar qualification would be desirable
* 3+ Years experience in a similar role
* ISOH/NEBOSH managing safety trained
* Green belt six sigma trained, desirable but not required
