An opportunity has become available for a Maintenance Technician at a major industrial gases production facility in Oxford. The successful candidate will join a team of skilled engineers in maintaining the safe and reliable operation of the equipment on the Oxford site and its Satellite’s.

This vacancy will suit an experienced time served technician with an engineering background (centrifugal / reciprocating compressors and pumps) with a knowledge of permit to work and contractor control.

The role:

Responsible for supporting the maintenance programme for all aspects of production on-site and on the offsite plants to measured KPI targets and response to breakdowns to ensure continuous reliable and efficient operation,

Responsibilities:

* You will arrange the planned maintenance of the equipment

* You will ensure the SAP plant maintenance system is maintained and kept up to date

* You will authorise Permits to Work using knowledge of plant and equipment to ensure safe procedures are used whilst minimise impact on production

* You will compile and ensure adherence to local work instructions which ensure that tasks are carried out in a safe and effective manner and meet the requirements of BOC standards and compliance with H&SE standards

* Responsibility towards the completion of the actions identified in the SHEQ plan

* Additionally, you will carry out monthly Planned General Inspections and Management Checklists

* You will report defective equipment and arrange for its repair or replacement

* You will prepare reports for both Company and the Customer as required and provide cover for callouts

* Identify opportunities to reduce gas generation and improve gas recovery

* Manage the operation of helium liquefiers to optimise their output, record performance and diagnose faults

* You will be required to work closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Contractors to plan and execute all Planned, Preventative and Defect Maintenance Activities

Knowledge and Experience Required:

* City & Guilds or Apprenticeship qualified (Electrical, Mechanical or Instrumentation

* A knowledge of pressure systems and a good understanding of the operation of compressors and related equipment

* A knowledge of process skills in order to deal with equipment issues as they arise

* A driving licence is required

* A working knowledge of helium liquefiers and purifiers would be beneficial but not essential

* A basic understanding of process and instrumentation is also beneficial

* An understanding of the relevant Health and Safety legislation and regulations.

* A good understanding of manual handling techniques and ability to use a ladder

* Good working knowledge of MS-Word, MS-Excel and E-mail.

* A strong safety ethic is important

* You must have a high level of personal integrity
