Job Title: Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) Specialist Support Worker
Location: Broxbourne, Hertfordshire
Pay: £18.74 per hour - Including Holiday Pay
Hours: Working 2 -3 full days per week
Hertford Regional College are currently looking to recruit an Autism Specialist Support Worker at our Broxbourne Campus, to support one of our learners with severe Autism.
This role would suit a proactive, caring and reliable individual looking for a fulfilling role where they can really make a difference to a young person’s life.
Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
* Empowering learner to become more independent.
* Providing behaviour-based support to reduce behaviours that adversely impact learning and quality of life.
* Enabling learner to access learning, using needs – specific, personalised approaches, both with 1:1 and group learning activities.
* Promoting and fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
* Supporting learners’ participation in social, leisure and educational activities.
* Tracking learners progress, ensuring support, care and teaching is appropriate and effective.
Person Specification:
* Sound knowledge and understanding of Autism.
* Previous experience working with challenging behaviour.
* Previous experience supporting individuals with severe Autism.
* Significant experience in directly supporting people with Learning Disabilities and/or autism who have complex needs using Applied Behaviour Analysis/ Positive Behaviour Support.
* Ability to keep calm in high pressure situations.
* Proactive, fun and caring nature.
