Materials Planner/ Buyer + upto £40k + Permanent role
A position exists for an experienced materials planner and buyer to join a small Supply Chain team responsible for materials planning, procurement and factory scheduling. Ensuring that achievable delivery dates are offered to Sales and Production Orders completed on time. The role will interface directly with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality therefore will require an individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The duties of the position are:
* To source all materials and services required to support the production of LED lighting products, for unique contract work or standard / recurring products.
* To negotiate with suppliers to achieve best cost, discounts, price breaks, etc.
* To generate Purchase Orders for all materials, sub-contract operations, finished parts, non-stocked items, etc. to agreed manufacturing requirements, specifications and customer schedules.
* To utilise the company MRP system (Material Requirements Planning) to optimise stocks of component parts and finished goods, ensuring these are maintained within agreed levels
* To liaise with Sales, Production and Suppliers on all matters that may be relevant to ensuring materials and/or services are provided as required and at specified quality levels.
* To co-ordinate the activities of those departments providing specifications, manufacturing information, tools, etc. in order to anticipate and prevent delays to Production
* To utilise the MRP system and Job Review functionality to manage the raising of Job requisitions and program Works Orders into the factory floor for manufacture.
* Review loaded hours’ calculations to ensure there is sufficient resource capacity to produce workloads for period.
* Maintain database containing latest working hour calculations for product manufacture times.
* Where appropriate and required, the timely release of Works Cards to Stores for kitting.
* To maintain a good working relationship with the Production/Stores Supervisors and their staff
* To initiate kit marshalling and associated shortage control procedures with the objective of ensuring that that all parts are available prior to commencement of assembly.
* To attend progress meetings as required in order to represent Supply Chain/Production control and be prepared to report on the material/work in progress status of each job or contract.
* To maintain supplier files for address, contact telephone numbers, email addresses etc. and update on a regular basis.
* To maintain supplier lead times for all products and update as required.
* To generate Purchasing and Production Control reports for Management team.
* To perform any other duties in the Supply Chain/Production Control/Purchasing Area which may be requested by the Head of the Department.

and have good knowledge of the following:
* MRP systems
* Knowledge of Syspro would be an advantage but the successful applicant will be very conversant with the operation of MRP, Production Planning and Scheduling, BOM
* Understanding how manufacturing and production processes are organised
* Techniques to plan production. MPS experience would be particularly helpful
* Excel – able to analysis data and Word to produce reports
Qualifications
* CIPS, is desirable but not essential
* Experience in Supply Chain, Procurement or Production Control roles. Automotive experience would be particularly useful, but not essential
