The opportunity
Due to successful project expansion, our client, a leading engineering consultancy who are specialists in the nuclear sector are currently searching for experienced EC&I Designers to join their team and undertake project work.
The role
As an Electrical Designer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role sits within our clients nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants, no two days will be the same.
This role is a full-time position, with a 37-hour working week. Our client is open to hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
You must be able to achieve baseline security clearance for this role.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
* As an Electrical Designer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role sits within our clients nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants, no two days will be the same.
* Day to day, you’ll be responsible for creation of design solution(s) and deliverables to required standards, consistent with whole lifecycle from concept through to in service support.
* Prepare and produce drawings throughout the design lifecycle and in line with recognised ISO standards to the required, time, cost, and quality requirements.
* Promote effective co-operation between Design and other functional teams.
* Prepare, produce, and maintain project documentation as required by the design lifecycle, produce and update ‘as built’ /datum pack documentation.
* Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders during design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality of design, including contribution to design reviews.
* Develop innovative design solutions and solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in the resolution of Production and Technical Queries
* Assist more senior designers in a range of activities including production of estimates, maintenance, and improvement in standard and quality of outputs, production, and test organisations with the compilation of test forms and procedures.
* Maintain awareness of developments within the industry, particularly for techniques & tools, physical integration, bill of material controls & management of design maturity
* Exercise care for own health and safety and that of others as defined by Health and Safety legislation, adhere to endorsed - Company policy, procedures, and delegations (e.g. Health & Safety, Diversity & Inclusion, Performance & Development Reviews and Finance etc.)
You will have the following qualifications & experience
* Knowledge of CAD tools.
* Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice.
It’s great if you also have the following
* ONC/HNC/HND (or equivalent) OR BTEC National Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) OR appropriate apprenticeship of specialisation.
