About The Role

We have a new opportunity to join DAS UK Group as a Reserving and Monitoring Manager. Reporting directly into the Chief Actuary, you will analyse underwriting performance, recommend the appropriate level of technical provisions to be held, and carry out the appropriate reporting.

In this role you can expect to:

• Monitor exposures and emerging experience relevant to technical provisions, developing a set of actuarial processes and models that interact with those in the wider business, and working with them to improve overall risk management

• Formulate and test relevant assumptions for technical provisions

• Recommend the level of technical provisions to be held under different bases UK GAAP and Solvency II, with the need to ensure consistency with provisions under solvency regulations

• Ensure timely and accurate submission of the relevant financial results, adhering to governing laws, DAS policies, Group requirements and professional standards.

• Carry out other actuarial investigations that may be required from time to time under UK regulation and legislation, and by Group.

• Monitor developments in legislation, Group guidance and actuarial standards; co-ordinate impact analysis and adoption; monitor adherence

• Act as line manager to a team of actuarial specialists, guiding their professional development and upholding and developing the departmental quality procedures

About You

We’re looking for candidates who are a Fellow of Institute or Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent) with good knowledge of non-life actuarial techniques including reserving. In addition, you’ll need to have previous supervisory experience as you’ll act as line manager to a team of actuarial specialists, guiding their professional development and assist with the development of others in the team.

The successful candidate will need to have good communication skills as you’ll be expected to liaise with internal, group and external auditors, implementing recommended actions as required. You’ll have the ability to form a well justified, independent view, communicate it clearly and defend it in response to challenges.
