About the role:
Sales Cost Controller is responsible for budgeting, forecasting and reporting for all costs associated with enterprise-wide sales team. One of the key objectives of this role will be to build labor expense and planning models that are consistent with the FP&A organization models that will allow for standardization and ultimately efficiency gains through centralization.
What you will be doing:
Implementing spend controls and forecasting techniques.
Working directly with regional sales leaders on T&E and 3rd party subcontractor plans
Own approval processes – redesigning where required.
Report on pre-sales projects captured in time tracking system.
Coordinating approval of sales requisitions for new and replacement hires
Managing headcount database for new hires and terminations with accurate classifications and payroll coding to enable reporting by line of business, location and sales leader
Forecasting of monthly, quarterly and annual headcount and cost
Participate in annual planning process
Collaborate with sales and revenue operations colleagues to build sales productivity v. cost metrics
Run monthly forecast review of sales costs for each line of business focusing on line by line P&L variance, capitalized v non-cap commission expense and headcount variance v. plan and forecast
Highlight risks of overspend to initiate action plans for mitigation
Distribute and present dashboards to sales leaders showing actuals v. forecast for hiring and travel costs.
What you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
7 years of Corporate Accounting experience
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license required
Requires highly organized individual who is capable of handling large volume of data (for around 1600+ sales heads) and presenting back clear summaries and reports projecting short mid and long term view.
Should be technically proficient to utilize tools available such as workflow approvals and database , promote new ideas and consider how to synchronize across the FP&A org.
This role will also have some responsibility for reviewing and approving headcount and expenditure plans so will require a strong individual capable of making grounded decisions based on logic and ability to push back when required.
Requires strong people and project management skill
Ability to identify, address and resolves employee related issues
Skill in productivity, planning, and workload management
Ability to design, document and implement process improvements
Effective team building, coaching and persuasion skills
Skill in negotiation regarding complex issues
Communicates ideas and/or position on a variety of issues both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise and professional manner to employees and clients at all levels
