Summary:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Lawyer to join their team. As a Senior Civil Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality legal advice and support to the organisation and external clients in the areas of complex construction, regeneration, and ICT matters, senior contracts, commercial law, and procurement advice. You will handle an extensive caseload of high-profile and sensitive matters, ensuring the provision of comprehensive and quality legal services.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, with expertise in housing and landlord-tenant matters, employment law, and miscellaneous litigation matters. You will have excellent research, drafting, and advocacy skills, and be able to provide innovative solutions to complex policy and strategic issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a senior lawyer, handling legal matters including housing and landlord-tenant, employment law, and miscellaneous litigation
Provide timely legal comments for committee and other relevant papers
Offer innovative solutions to complex policy and strategic issues
Research, draught, and prepare legal proceedings and documents
Ensure compliance with government policy and legal precedent
Attend court, tribunals, and statutory panels as required
Liaise with directors, departmental service heads, and senior officers
Represent Legal Services at meetings and committees
Assist in the effective use of resources and compliance with financial regulations
Coordinate day-to-day activities within the team
Contribute to the council's priorities and outcomes
Promote equality and diversity in service delivery
Support organisational change and learning
Ensure compliance with quality systems and performance monitoringRequirements:

Qualified solicitor, barrister, or fellow of CILEX
Significant PQ experience in civil litigation
High-level advocacy skills
Experience managing and developing staff
Strong analytical, verbal, and numeric reasoning skills
