Our client is a specialist manufacturer of products for the construction industry.
They are currently seeking a Trainee CNC Production Operative to work in their bespoke manufacturing department. Working with wood - a great opportunity to learn and use computer technology, CAD and modern programming software in the manufacturing of bespoke timber products.
The role starts on the shop floor and progresses through several stages:
* introduction to basic operation of CNC machines
* basic set ups of CNC, the use of fixtures and jigs and the loading of programs
* tool technology, care, mounting and loading of high value tooling
* Understanding cutting principles
* The use of CAM software (SolidCam) to program parts
* CAD software (SolidWorks) to draw parts and features
* The creation of jigs, fixtures and holding devices
* Experience of various CNC machines
This is a role with good progression opportunities.
Training will be given to the successful candidate in the following:
General Duties:
* Loading CNC machine and semi-automatic machinery - training will be given.
* Changing machine programmes.
* Changing fixtures and jigs over.
* CAD and CAM associated with the role.
* Organising work area.
* Associated duties involved in the production of CNC components.
* Timber preparation
* Meeting daily production targets.
* Achieving required quality standards.
* Working in a safe manner.

Essential Experience/Skills:
Computer savvy.

Prerequisites:
Literate and numerate – maths to a high standard.
Good eyesight.
Can measure in mm, cm and mtrs.
Good with hands and has good hand/eye coordination.
Reliable and conscientious.

Terms and Conditions of Employment:
Place of Work: Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent.
Hours: 08:00am to 4:45pm (8hrs) Monday to Friday, with 15 minute morning break and 30 minute unpaid lunch break.
Rate of Pay: From Minimum Wage £8.60/hr (18-20 yrs old) dependent upon age and experience.
Holidays: 20 days paid holiday plus bank holidays
