Job Description
Performs routine and expanded job descriptions as listed in the provider's delegation agreement on file with the Maryland Board of Physicians or Maryland Board of Nursing. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified. The Advanced Practice Provider will:
Join a multifaceted team that covers the Cardiovascular ICU and the RESUME OR.
Collaborate with attending physicians and clinicians regarding admission, discharge, and transfer decisions.
Communicate effectively with attending physicians, other medical teams, team members, and patient’s families.
Demonstrate competence in clinical assessment and decision making.
Perform comprehensive history and physical assessments for patient admissions and daily rounds.
Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services.
Assists in the preoperative and postoperative planning, care, and documentation in keeping with protocols.
RESUME OR:Performs tissue handling including making incisions, retracting, dissecting, tying, ligating, stapling, suturing and providing hemostasis. Performs chest tube insertions and closes leg and chest incisions.
Prepares and loads the vein on an Aortic Connector System for proximal anastamosis.
Performs endoscopic or open harvesting of the radial artery during coronary artery bypass procedures and prepares radial artery for bypass.
Notifies attending physician on call, house physician on call or supervising physician (or surgeon) regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
Demonstrates competence and skill in required tasks and procedures.Demonstrates knowledge of and competency in required subspecialty.
Complete required CMEs and maintain licensures appropriately.
Performs according to Maryland Board of Physician or Board of Nursing standards and expanded job description procedural protocols.
Facilitates excellence in quality assurance and the delivery of patient care as part of our High Reliability Organization.Provides optimal quality of patient care while following safety guidelines,
Maintains a procedure complication rate less than the national average.
Contributes to cohesive group relations; uses open communication to resolve problems in and between departments.
Demonstrates commitment to professional department and organizational core values.
