Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Field Service Engineer on behalf of a leading electrical service provider, who design, manufacture, install and commission bespoke LV & MV Switchgear.

Established over 35 years, they have several workshops across the UK as well as in America and Singapore.

They specialise in a range of sectors including Marine, Oil & Gas, Rail and Construction. They have a strong client base including the likes of Eon, Drax, Princess Cruises, Network Rail and BP.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will form part of the project delivery team, whereby you will be responsible for the hands on execution of switchgear support services on site. You will partake in activities such as the maintenance, repair and servicing of LV and MV/HV Switchgear up to 11kV. It is therefore essential that the candidate is flexible and willing to travel extensively, as this role involves traveling to sites across the UK, as well as internationally and offshore.

This is working 38 hours per week – 8am – 16.45 Mon-Thurs and 8am – 13.00pm Friday. Overtime rates kick in after standard hours.

Your rate depends on where you are based. Roughly the current split between site work and workshop work is around 70/30 with engineers been in the field more often. Please see rate guide below:

Responsibilities

* Delivering site-based activities in line with the Company's service portfolio.

* Demonstrate excellent electrical fault finding and rectifications skills, along with good commercial awareness skills to provide top level customer service and technical support.

* Carrying out repairs and maintenance on switchgear and circuit breakers, replacing SF6 gas.

* Providing on-site or remote technical support to both colleagues and customers as and when required.

* Ensuring efficient, successful delivery of all assigned projects on time and to the highest standards., in line with company policies and customer expectations.

* Complete all paperwork including reports, timesheets and expense claims in a timely and accurate manner to support the efficient processing of invoices.

* Creating and maintaining strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and providing specialist support and solutions.

* Identifying opportunities for the development of new service applications, equipment and methods.

* Working with both new and heritage equipment including air, oil and vacuum circuit breakers and panels, as well as Whipp & Bourne equipment.

* Ensure that issues and risks are escalated to Management to allow adequate investigation and resolution.

* Travel and work at site outside of regular office hours as and when required.

Skills & Attributes

* Full UK Driving Licence.

* Completed an apprenticeship or qualified to an HNC level in Engineering.

* Experience in maintaining and repairing Switchgear up to 11Kv.

* Ability to work both independently as well as part of a larger engineering team.

* Ability to work swiftly and competently under pressure, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards within the timeframes provided.

* Good customer service skills.

* Proactive, can-do attitude and able to work quickly and efficiently whilst using your own initiative.

* An excellent understanding of Health and Safety.

* Competent in the use of computers and data handling including Microsoft Office systems.
