Our client is a leading multi-disciplined construction firm based in Central Scotland, renowned for delivering high-quality residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. As they continue to grow, they are looking for a dedicated and experienced Construction Buyer to join their dynamic team.

As a Construction Buyer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services essential for their projects. You will work closely with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to maintain strong relationships and ensure that their projects run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, equipment, and services from suppliers.

• Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers.

• Assess and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment.

• Monitor and forecast material requirements for ongoing and upcoming projects.

• Collaborate with project managers and site teams to understand and meet their procurement needs.

• Manage inventory levels and coordinate logistics to ensure project timelines are met.

• Evaluate supplier performance and resolve any issues or discrepancies.

• Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and new products to ensure competitive procurement.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and health and safety

regulations.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Construction Buyer or in a similar procurement role within the construction industry.

• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, and industry standards.

• Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Desirable:

• CIPS qualification or equivalent.

• Experience with sustainability and eco-friendly procurement practices.
