Join Our Team as a Kennel/Transport Officer

Location: Council Kennelling Facility

Position Type: Full-Time, Shift Work (including evenings and weekends)

Are you passionate about animal care and looking for a rewarding role where you can make a difference? We are seeking a dedicated Kennel/Transport Officer to join our team and ensure the well-being of all dogs at our council's kennelling facility.

Key Responsibilities:

* Dog Care: Provide proper care for all kennelled dogs, including feeding, watering, bedding, exercise, and veterinary care.

* Transportation: Safely transport dogs using the council vehicle to veterinary appointments, rehoming centres, and other necessary locations.

* Facility Maintenance: Keep the kennels clean, sanitary, and secure at all times. Ensure equipment is well-maintained and follow safe working practices.

* Record Keeping: Maintain clear and accurate records of all dogs received, kennelled, reclaimed, and re-housed. Handle enquiries in accordance with council policies.

* Emergency Assistance: Assist in emergencies involving animals, including those related to rabies and other notifiable diseases.

* Collaboration: Work effectively with rehoming centres, veterinary services, and other animal agencies. Maintain positive relationships with partners and stakeholders.

What We're Looking For:

* Experience: Previous experience in enforcement work, particularly related to animals. Experience in a kennel environment and handling aggressive or dangerous dogs is essential.

* Skills: Strong organizational skills, ability to work in a physically demanding environment, and excellent communication skills for dealing with people at all levels.

* Qualifications: Animal Care Level 1, Kennel & Cattery Management, or any other relevant qualification.

Working Conditions:

* Environment: Work will be site-based at our council depot, often in outdoor conditions.

* Volume: Our facility houses approximately 80 dogs each month.
