JOB TITLE: Bid Manager

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB -

To manage the process for a range of projects leading the internal bid team, external consultants, specialist subcontractors and other project stakeholder inputs from inception, through the company gateway process to tender submission and contract award.

Strong commercial awareness is needed to ensure delivery of efficiency of proposals, to agreed programme and implement to meet client’s requirements and maximise RPH overall profitability.

As bid manager, it is essential that the preconstruction process is carried out timeously and efficiently ensuring a positive Client experience so that the Client will recommend RPH for future work, each and every time.

DUTIES -

Manage the processes through to contract award and hand over to delivery teams.

Follow business procedures and ensure communications protocols are followed.

Ensure all statutory requirements are met and that the designs are compliant with the Contract.

Requirements.

Ensuring we are appropriately represented at all stages of Bid process and opportunities are maximised.

Provide reporting/updates on progress of opportunities and workload to ensure delivery on programme.

When working on Framework projects carry out all activities during the preconstruction phase in compliance with framework requirements and assist in the Construction Phase and Post Construction as directed by the Preconstruction Director.

Create and promote an environment of professionalism in all project works.

Maintain a strong customer focus.

Take a partnering approach to working with all key stakeholders.

Support the Directors to develop business and secure new work.

Manage a workload of several projects or tenders at one time.

Maintain a business perspective that is reflected in all decisions and actions - anticipating problems and modify plans accordingly.

Demonstrate a strong commercial awareness identifying and managing opportunities and risks.

Take a strategic view of issues alongside immediate operational requirements.

Consider efficiencies of design and specifications and undertake value engineering to ensure clients budget and requirements are met.

Analyse relevant information and identify innovative and effective solutions to optimise outcomes.

Due diligence on bids to ensure there are no errors and that bids are strategically designed to be successful, whilst being able to achieve our minimum net margin requirements.

Taking an active role in collecting lessons learnt feedback from process and ensuring that they are closed out within the estimating function for subsequent bids.

Other duties as required in agreement with the Director

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS/RELEVANT INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Professionally recognised relevant qualifications and degree educated is preferable, alongside significant operational, technical, or commercial experience with major contractor/developer

Experience across a wide range of Construction sectors.

Excellent leadership skills, team works and proven management experience in order to drive preconstruction process to completion.

Technical & commercial awareness and ability to provide leadership to drive project to cost effective solutions.

Able to identify and assess risk and develop winning strategies for projects.

Sound knowledge of bidding strategies and techniques

Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

IT literate – MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Ability to programme using ASTA Power Project or equivalent - would be beneficial.

Organised, methodical and accurate.

Enthusiastic, can-do attitude

Demonstrable ambition and the desire to achieve growth targets.

Valid driving license
