Job title: Senior Temporary Works Coordinator
Location: Coleshill, Birmingham (B46)
Contract length: 3 month initial contract - Potential to be extended
IR35 Status: Inside of scope
Balfour Beatty are looking to appoint a Senior Temporary Works Coordinator to work on their Birmingham area of the exciting HS2 project. This is a 3 month initial contract with potential to be extended further and will be based predominantly on site at their Coleshill office location. The works will relate to areas between Birmingham and Coventry - A45, M42 and M6 and the HS2 Interchange station. Works will include improvements to existing highways such as reinforced earth retaining walls and top down constructed underbridges for future station access.
The successful Senior Temporary Works Coordinator will be responsible for the management and coordination of all temporary works activities within the designated area to meet project requirements. The Coordinator will require previous experience as a Temporary works Coordinator on a project of similar scale and complexity and a valid CSCS card. Previous experience on Highways or Rail projects would be advantageous as would CITB Temporary Works training.
Responsibilities
*
Coordination of all Temporary Works (TW) activities ready for construction to meet project requirements.
*
Ensure that construction methods statements and risk assessments comply with the requirements of the temporary works design.
*
Ensure that information relevant to the temporary works has been received from the client, principal designer and permanent works designer, as appropriate.
*
Ensure that a design brief is prepared with consultation within the project team and that it is both adequate and in accordance with the actual situation on site;
*
Ensure that any other temporary works in the vicinity are referenced in the design brief;
*
Programme and plan the temporary works to determine the priorities for temporary works designs.
*
Participation in technical meetings providing support to the construction team (e.g. Interdisciplinary design review and checks).
*
Maintain an up to date design assumption log and close out prior to final technical assurance stages.
*
Maintain an up to date design risk register and close out prior to final technical assurance stages.
*
Ensure Departures are raised and accepted where strictly necessary for area of responsibility.
*
Timely communication of risks to the Project Manager and undertake risk mitigation actions, as agreed at Risk Reduction meetings.

Timely communication of change to the Temporary Works Designs,
*
Provide support for preparation of Compensation Events (cost and programme impacts).
*
Ensure the design meets the HS2 Environmental Minimum Requirements, including all requirements for environmental mitigation.
Key Skills / Experience
*
Previous experience as a Temporary works Coordinator on a project of similar scale and complexity.
*
Structural experience and earthworks experience ideal
*
Deep understanding of construction environment
*
Manual driving licence
*
CSCS card
*
CITB Temporary Works training would be advantageous
*
Any experience on Highways or Rail would be advantageous
*
Good practical knowledge of BS5975:2019
*
Ability to manage conflicting demands, assess priorities, proactively plan the works to ensure timely delivery of project requirements
*
Disciplined approach to quality assurance and documentation. Attention to detail, ensuring legal compliance and satisfying project requirements.
*
Highly organised with good management and coordination skills
*
Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations, in particular, the Designer and principal Contractors role
