JUNIOR RESEARCH GROUP LEADER (F/M/X) AT LEIBNIZ INSTITUTE OF VIROLOGY The Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV, ) is an independent research institution for basic biomedical research. LIV is committed to research on the biology of human viruses as well as the pathogenesis of viral diseases. The institute offers the opportunity to perform cutting-edge research in a world-class research environment with excellent facilities, collaborates closely with local universities and non-university research institutions, and is a founding member of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) and the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB). We are currently accepting applications for the position of an independent Junior Research Group Leader (f/m/x). The position is offered for an initial 6-year appointment, commencing at the earliest convenience, with the potential for a 2-year extension. The new group should focus on viruses relevant for human diseases and strengthen at least one of the four overarching research topics of LIV. Active contribution to the new research field Viral Data Science or the new Leibniz Lab "Pandemic Preparedness: One Health, One Future" as well as collaboration with existing groups is strongly encouraged. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree and have postdoctoral experience with a track record of successful research in the field of experimental virology. Adequate laboratory space, including joint use of BSL3 laboratories, equipment, technical and scientific assistance, and annual core funding will be offered. Additionally, access to LIV technology platforms (), offering state-of-the-art infrastructure for flow cytometry, microscopy and image analysis, next-generation sequencing, and small animal models, will be provided. The acquisition of additional extra-mural funding is expected. Payment and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TV-AVH (salary agreement for public service employees).
