Exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a development program valued at £100M over the next five years. The existing engineering and projects team will be enhanced by the addition of a Quantity Surveyor to assist with the implementation of this capital program. Reporting to the Director of Projects & Engineering, supporting the planning and execution of strategically important projects within a live operational environment.

As Quantity Surveyor you will primarily be responsible for assisting the Engineering team to deliver a wide range of capital and maintenance projects with a focus on budgetary control and management. You will also work closely with the finance team to develop and monitor both operational and capital budgets and spend.

As a Quantity Surveyor your new role will also include but not be limited to the following:

Preparing, negotiating and analysing costs for tenders and contracts
Procurement of sub-contractors and preparation of sub-contractor order documentation
Managing and valuing variations
Assist in the production of pre-contract take-off, interim valuations and final accounts.
Production of monthly Cost Value Reconciliation on contracts
Support the Capital Projects Manager and Projects Director with the logistical, technical and commercial management of the projects to meet the overall business objectives
Assist in the preparation and ongoing monitoring of operational and capital annual budgets.
Assist in the ongoing development and updating of the Long Term Business Plan.
Support the project team in the procurement, delivery, and handover of projects to achieve desired business outcomes.
Contribute and work to the development and maintenance of a culture of excellent health, safety, and environmental standards across the projects and their associated contractors to deliver the highest levels of health, safety, and environmental performance achievable.
Assist in the identification and mitigation of risks that may adversely impact project delivery or adversely affect operations through the project/programme lifecycle.
Positively influence key stakeholders (both internal & external) associated with projects
Play an active part in lessons identified process across all projects and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
Ability to work flexible hours to facilitate any out of hours activity as and when required

Essential experience should also include the following:

HND or Degree in a relevant Discipline such as Quantity Surveying
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying position.
Solid knowledge of compliance standards and how to achieve regulatory standards
Proven supervisory/people management experience, including performance and development
Experience of all aspects of cost control in construction projects.
