Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Obstetrician with an interest in Fetal Medicine based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. This is a full-time replacement post to provide tertiary Fetal Medicine services for South East Wales.

Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview. RCOG accreditation in Fetal medicine following sub-specialist training is an essential criterion for this appointment.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work with three other Fetal Medicine Consultants providing tertiary services across South East Wales. The post holder will also take part in labour ward and on-call duties along with other colleagues to provide 84 hours consultant presence, however, change in job plan is considered for suitable candidate as detailed in Job description.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.

Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine will be expected.
