Joshua Robert are working with a well-established client working with several local authorities and housing associations across the North East.

Durham County Council are looking for a Weighbridge Operator, based at Joint Stocks Landfill site based in Coxhoe, Durham.

Description of the role :
Working as part of a team, responsible for the safe delivery and removal of waste materials to and from the Waste Transfer Station (WTS). This is a frontline role where customer service is of paramount importance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
To operate the weighbridge on a day to day basis and produce an accurate weighbridge ticket for all loads entering and leaving the site.
 To operate software systems associated with the weighbridge and record data in a timely and accurate manner. This data includes the customer/haulier details and the material being transported, the correct vehicle registration, source/ destination and any order number.  Appropriate training in weights and measures must undertaken.
To make sure deliveries and collections conform to Waste Management Legislation by inspecting relevant documentation. To ensure outbound documentation is completed accurately and completely in accordance with applicable legislation.
Handle payments including cash from private customers ensuring detailed accounts are recorded accurately and monies banked on a regular basis.
Advising site manager / supervisor on some waste legislation.
To refuse to accept/ issue material when a customer account is on a credit stop (unless prior authorisation is obtained from the Site Manager or credit control department).
To notify the driver when the vehicle is over-weight.
To carryout routine checks of weighbridge accuracy and make appropriate adjustments and balanced and reading zero. To carry out non-technical periodic maintenance of the weighbridge in accordance with manufacturer’s checklist such as cleaning.  Maintain the weighbridge office and ensure it is kept in a clean and tidy manner. 
To supervisor / team leader of any operational problems with the weighbridge, software systems or offices (i.e. inaccuracies, malfunctions, damage, cleanliness etc). 
To complete relevant records and documentation during daily operations.
To act as reception at Joint Stocks, carry out inductions relating to site rules and issue permits.  Sign in site visitors and record details. To answer the telephone in a professional manner. Qualifications:
Relevant training in an associated discipline. Experience :
Experience of working in a relevant operational-related area, e.g. waste or environmental services.
Experience of working with software systems.
Ability to work in a busy environment whilst ensuring the highest standards of accuracy.
Experience of working with the public. Skills & Knowledge:
Good verbal communication skills.
Ability to work on own initiative with a minimum of supervision.
Ability to maintain basic records and documentation.
Awareness of health of safety issues.
Numeracy and literacy skills.
