Consilium Recruit has been exclusively retained by an innovate manufacturer to manage the recruitment of a Design Engineering Manager to join the team. Joining at a time of significant expansion and new product launch you will be responsible for managing the design team to ensure the product design matches customer requirements and applicants are sought with proven leadership skills and experience working in a complex engineering, powertrain or automotive environment.

Commutable from: Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stratford upon Avon, Coventry, Birmingham, Banbury, Warwick.

Salary: £ 70,000 - £ 80,000 plus benefits

Suitable for: Head of Design, Design Manager, Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering, Engineering Director.

The Role

Manage the UK Design Engineers workloads and provide guidance and mentoring.

Manage, create, review, and approve change request documentation, technical specifications, and validation test plans.

Approve and release controlled documents into the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.

Work with other sub-system teams in setting design requirements and leading development.

Lead and/or participate in technical design reviews.

Assist in developing technology roadmap for future systems.

Develop design procedures and processes with the changing needs of the business.

Provide DFMEA and DVP&R and G8D guidance and approval.

Support Quality team with the implementation of the supplier quality manual and PAC process.

Support Procurement director, purchase team and supply base with DFM activities, providing models, drawings and with any other requested documentation and support as appropriate specifically to cost down activities.

The Candidate

Minimum of 5 years in an Engineering Manager / Design leadership position.

Mechanical Engineering Degree (or similar)

Experience working in a complex engineering environment (powertrain, gearbox, generator environment or similar)

Previous NPI launch experience preferred.

PPAP experience developing and creating Design records, FMEA’s, Control Plans, etc.

Broad understanding of a wide range of production methods and technologies for both prototype and production intent components along with quality and test processes.

Ideally have worked in rapidly growing Small, Medium Enterprise (SME).
