Mixed Veterinarian. Roma. Queensland. Salary $70-$150k DOE ( £35k-£72k)

You’re a great vet, with an adventurous side who is starting to get itchy feet.

Things change, circumstances change and the thought of moving overseas to utilise your skills excites you.

The outdoor lifestyle, the mountains, the beaches, the long blue-sky days, and their ‘happy-go-lucky’ attitude to life has had you dreaming about moving to Australia for a long time.

It’s a big step, we understand that, curious, excited, looking for an adventure on the other side of the world?

Tempted then read on.

What if we knew of a vet practice, where vets are free to work on their own cases, with a loyal client base who are respectful and understanding of what you do and a team of like-minded vets and nurses who want their best for patients and practice.

Well, you're in luck as we do and this one is hiring.

A modern practice based in the pretty rural town of Roma is hiring for growth. They are seeking a professional, self-motivated vet to join a real mixed practice to help continue with the progression of the business.

Ideally, they are looking for a 2-year plus vet but will take a confident new grad, a bit of a self-starter who has had some basic exposure to surgery.

This isn’t a practice that cuts corners they have a team of experienced vets and nurses working in a relaxed, friendly environment, a place where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time.

The role is 65% SA, 25% cattle and 10% equine. You can expect a varied caseload with a good mix of consults and surgery, owning your cases, and seeing them through so you will quickly develop a broad skill set.

The owner Jo has over 23 years in veterinary and with the experienced team who are always there to guide and support, you will never be short of a helping hand if and when needed.

This is a 4-day working week with 1:3 on-call. (3-day long weekend after working on call.) Minimal but some sole charge, Jo is only a call away if needed.

Afterhours is fairly quiet, They are all pretty organised here so unless it is an emergency they are closing the door behind them at 5 pm.

So, what’s in it for you? A salary of $70-$150k per annum, DOE. Regular vet fees paid for, a ute, plus 8 weeks free accommodation on arrival. Holiday allowance of 4 weeks. There is also an option to buy in after two years.

They want you to develop as a vet here so they encourage CPD, providing one week of paid conference leave, plus the conference paid for too!!

Based in the town of Roma the practice is within walking distance of cafes and shops, plenty of sporting options locally, and a gin distillery. With the Carnarvon National Park only a few hours drive north for a weekend away or a day trip, Brisbane 1 hour away by air and with natural beauty to explore in every direction, what’s not to like?

So, what’s next?

Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Enjoy being a vet again on the other side of the world
