Job Description
SGS is currently looking to hire 3rd Party Pre-Shipment Inspectors throughout the Unites States.  The Pre-Shipment Inspectors will be set up on contracts and called to work “as needed”. 
Responsibilities:
Verification of air and ocean shipments to the destinations aboard.
Physical inventory verification of material/equipment and goods.
Witness of loading/unloading on shipping containers and trucks.
Quality and description verification of goods and materials.
Physical verification of material for description, quantity and marking.
Checking and reporting air worthiness and sea worthiness of the packages.
Photograph staging of products for inspection.
Report all external (visible) surfaces and product components for any damage or defects or blemishes.
Report internal condition (as available).
Report internal/external surface condition, such as quality of paint or other coatings, galvanizing, rust, dent, scratches, pits, dings, voids etc.
Report overall workmanship of the product.
Report and verify quantity, product identification and specifications with reference documents.
Report quantity and quality of all items/accessories/spare parts of the shipment were available and correct.
Report all site/supplier reference numbers, PO numbers and drawing numbers that identify each of the items inspected.
Report any damages with details (severity, position, type, etc.) and photograph the same.
PACKING / PRE-SHIPMENT
Record and report all shipping/packing arrangements including total quantity of packages or shipping pieces (goods must be packed at the completion of inspection).
Record and report overall quality of packing.
Verify and report if shipping/packing arrangements have been done in accordance with applicable procedure.
Record and report all markings found on materials/crates/packages (identification & shipping).
Ensure to photograph all available equipment and include photos of the overall work condition, ordered equipment, equipment tags, packing condition/quality, defects, damages, etc.
Ensure to verify the quantity of all items & any accessories/spare parts of the shipment.
Verify and report all packaging details such as package construction, product protection and handling instructions.
Photograph all available items and include photos of: Overall condition, equipment tagging markings, damages, etc.
