We have a unique opportunity for a Tax Director with one of the largest independent firms in the North-East. Their York office is looking for someone to take ownership of their own client portfolio, and take accountability for the tax team, as well as their learning and development, ensuring deadlines are met, regulatory compliance is maintained, while developing the team and growing the client base consisting of both corporate tax and personal tax clients.

Some of your responsibilities as a Tax Director will be:

Advise clients on a wide variety of personal, corporate, and advisory tax issues.
Undertake corporation tax compliance.
Allocate and manage assignments to team members.
Assist the partner with a variety of tax projects including, but not limited to, R&D claims, corporate restructuring work, and inheritance tax planning work.
Provide guidance, training, and support to both tax colleagues and wider team members on a variety of tax issues.
Organise and deliver tax training sessions
Research technical tax matters for the partners.
Attend internal team audit meetings.
Attend pre- and post-year-end planning meetings for relevant clients as requested.
Attend client meetings and external events where appropriate.
Attend networking events with solicitors, banks and other referrers.The successful candidate will be:

CTA qualified.
Have relevant experience in a similar level role gained within practice.
Knowledge of specialist tax areas including but not limited to corporation tax, IHT, residency, corporate reorganisations, and share schemes.
Have a high level of numeracy.
Have a methodical approach, be extremely organised and have good attention to detail
The ability to make decisions, solve problems, and take appropriate action.
Be flexible and proactive in managing multiple priorities.
Experience of managing a team
Knowledge of tax systems including CCH, IRIS and Digita and CT will be beneficial.This exciting role is paying between £60,000pa and £80,000pa dependent on experience. You will also enjoy an extensive benefits package.
