I'm working with the Sale High School in Trafford (M33) to find them a Permanent Exams Manager (Term time + 6 days).

The role is vacant because the current Exams Manager has moved to another role in the school.

Sale High are keen to develop their new Exams Manager, will fund external training and the previous Exams Manager is on hand to help you settle into the Exams Manager role.

Sale High School is an 11-16 school with a great reputation and a supportive, welcoming team. This is an exciting time to join the school ahead of their multi-million rebuild project due next year.
This role would suit an organised problem solver with the ability to think clearly under pressure.

Important Details:

Actual salary is £27732 + £1290 increase pending for 2024/2025.
Working 40 weeks a year (term time plus 6 days).
Band 6.
Excellent local authority pension with employer contributions of 19.2%.
34 days holiday per year (incl. bank holidays). Rising to 39 days after 5 years.
School will fund external qualifications.
Based in Sale (M33) 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Excellent induction and training.

Duties of the Exams Manager:

Coordinate with staff on exam entries, coursework, and assessment procedures to ensure a smooth exam cycle.
Share information, handle enquiries, and address complaints about external exams with staff, students, and parents/carers.
Submit external exam entries on time, understand and comply with regulations for all exams.
Manage safe receipt, checking, and storage of exam papers.
Develop and review exam-related policies.
Work with SENCO to arrange access and adjustments for eligible students.
Register candidates for exams and ensure payment of exam fees with the finance team.
Recruit, train, and manage invigilators.
Ensure proper conduct during exams as per regulations.
Arrange MFL listening and reading exams and send recordings to the exam board.
Oversee logistics for exams, including timetabling, room booking, and resources.
Inform students of their exam schedules and resolve timetable clashes.
Handle administrative tasks related to exam sessions.
Support SENCO with access arrangements and adjustments.
Securely store and dispatch completed exam papers.
Manage unexpected issues or emergencies during exams.
Submit required reports to examining bodies.
Arrange the distribution of results to students.
Ensure secure receipt of results by the school.
Use data analysis tools to share results with stakeholders.
Distribute exam certificates to candidates and retain results for school records.
Liaise with exam inspectors during their visits.
Oversee the exam appeals process and manage the exam budget.
Liaise with National Assessment Agency and Examinations Officers Association.
Ensure compliance with Data Protection regulations and stay updated with role requirements through training.
Provide exam statistics to the Head Teacher, SLT, Governors, LA, and DfE.
Manage the Exams Assistant, assigning tasks and ensuring proper training.
The Exams Manager Must Have/Be:

Strong educational background with numeracy skills.
GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
Equivalent of NVQ Level 3/4 or relevant experience.
Using Management Information Systems (MIS). Data management, analysis, and reporting.
Excellent organisational skills, able to work calmly under pressure.
Strong written and oral communication skills, clear and articulate.
Confident interaction with various stakeholders.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency with IT systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, MIS).
Flexible and quick under pressure.
Self-motivated, able to work independently and prioritise tasks.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Tact, and confidentiality. Handling data with and understanding of GDPR principles.
Keeping updated with the curriculum and exam system developments.

An Advantage but not Essential:

At least two years in a school/college administrative role.
Line managing staff and training others, such as invigilators.
Experience managing exams.
Working with awarding bodies and regulatory organisations (e.g., JCQ).
Knowledge of exam timetable planning principles.
