We have a permanent Automation Technician role available within TATA Steel’s Shotton site. This role is ideal for someone with strong interpersonal skills and has worked in a similar role or within the manufacturing industry in order to hit the ground running

Role: Automation Technician

Location: TATA Steel, Shotton Works, Deeside, Weighbridge Rd, Flintshire CH5 2NH

Salary: £53,500 - £60,000 (dependent upon experience) as well as bonus on basic salary

Shift Patterns: X4 on and X4 off as well as X5 18 day breaks per year

Responsibilities:

* Providing specialist engineering support to the manufacturing production lines

* Responding to plant breakdowns

* Diagnosing faults to ensure line is running again as soon as possible

* Conducting design software modifications and improvements to plant equipment

* Adhering to onsite software management systems

* Identifying solutions to problems using supporting diagnostics

* Designing and implementing of PLC code

* Commissioning support for major line improvements

* Writing/maintaining onsite Electrical procedures

* Executing new projects

* Conducting investigations into plant issues

Essential requirements:

* Educated to HNC level (or above) in Electrical/Electronic/instrumentation discipline

* Significant experience working in a similar role or manufacturing environment

* Driving Licence and use of a vehicle

* Experience working with Allen Bradley Control/Compact Logix OR Siemens S7 PLC’s

* Experience of AC or DC Invertor drives, fault finding, commissioning and programming

* Methodical fault finding skills

* Good knowledge of health and safety

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work on own initiative

* Strong understanding of relay logic and the ability to fault find from Engineering drawings

* Instrumentation knowledge, maintaining and fault finding control loops

* Some knowledge of industrial communication protocols I.e. DeviceNet / Profibus / Profinet / TCP/IP

* Some SCADA and HMI development experience

* Some knowledge of Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems
