We are looking for full-time Food Runners/Expeditors to help keep a smooth and efficient workflow between the kitchen and the dining area. Food Runner/Expeditor responsibilities include but are not limited to delivering food from the kitchen to the guest in the restaurant, ensuring that each guest receives the correct order, refilling guests' drinks as requested, and answering any questions they may have. The Food Runner/Expeditor helps provide an unforgettable dining experience for Anna's House guests.
The Food Runner/Expeditor's overall job is to work closely with the kitchen and front of house staff to ensure food accuracy and quality before the guest receives their order.
Responsibilities
Ensure the efficient flow of orders from the wait staff to the kitchen
Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority and alert management to quality issues or long wait times
Assist in the final plate presentation (e.g. adding condiments and/or toppings)
Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation, and temperature
Deliver orders quickly to customers to maintain fast service
Communicate important information to the kitchen and the wait staff (e.g. when a customer has a particular request)
Keep Runner/Expo area clean and well stocked
Eliminate obstacles in service, food preparation lines, or dishwashing
Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards, and assist in cleaning
Handle complaints from customers to preserve the restaurant’s reputation of providing excellent customer service
Support other tasks as needed (e.g. telephone orders, organizing and bagging to-go orders)
Perform duties of host, busser, and takeout/deli server as directed by leadership
Requirements
Education
High school diploma required
Higher degree in hospitality or relevant field preferred
Food handling certification may be required according to legal regulations
Experience
Proven experience as a Food Runner/Expeditor or other restaurant position preferred
Skills
Outstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilities
Ability to lead and direct people through excellent communication and negotiation skills
Provide a customer-oriented approach
Ability to remain calm under stressful situations
Understanding of health and safety rules in a restaurant
Work Environment
Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods
Maintain the dexterity needed to use kitchen equipment or utensils
Must be able to lift, carry, and place up to 40 pounds at a time
Ability to bend and stoop frequently
Available to work in shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and/or mid afternoon. MUST HAVE WEEKEND AVAILABILITY.
