Marketing Champion

Company: Stile Education
Job type: Full-time

When asked about school science classes, most people recall beakers and baking soda volcanoes. While simulating eruptions is always fun, science class today, and especially a Stile science class, is about so much more.
From lab-grown meat to the gut-brain axis, from computer-brain implants to working out how we’ll establish a colony on Mars and beyond, Stile is the middle school science curriculum preparing our young citizens for the world they’re living in. It’s about equipping them with the critical thinking skills and problem-solving tools needed to tackle the big issues of today, and tomorrow.
We think young people everywhere deserve this sort of world-class science education.
Over 40% of Australian teenagers use Stile’s science curriculum to explore and analyze the science behind the big issues facing us globally. Every week, over 250,000 students from around Australia, and increasingly the United States use Stile’s cutting-edge technology platform in their classrooms. Stile empowers teachers with everything they need to deliver a relevant, engaging, and rigorous science education for their students (yes, even the beakers and volcanoes—they’re still important).
But as we grow and expand our business globally, we need your help! There’s so much more we can do to support our hard-working teachers.
That’s where you come in.
We need your creative marketing mind to run beautiful and impactful campaigns that power Stile’s expansion across the USA.
Stile USA is having a moment. We’re new(ish) to the US market but have gained *incredible* traction in our home state of Oregon. It’s time to tell the rest of the USA why teachers love Stile so much. Our small but mighty dream team wants to welcome an imaginative and resourceful marketing all-rounder onboard to do this.
Your primary responsibility will be lead generation. You’ll get a buzz from finding an artful, impactful way to communicate a message to a target audience. You’ll love thinking up new ideas for campaigns and collaboratively refining them. You’re excited to work across different mediums (print, digital, in-person events) and have some social-media savviness to help Stile reach a wider audience.
Importantly, you deeply respect educators and want to create messages that speak to them and other important stakeholders.
Here are some of the things you’ll be doing to help revolutionize science education:
Develop, project manage, and write beautiful, targeted, high-impact campaigns across print, digital, and in-person mediums. These campaigns will start by collaboratively crafting key messages. You’ll take those key messages to sketch out campaign options and refine the best through collaboration with designers and key stakeholders. You’ll scope out a project plan and work with suppliers to meet deadlines. The final results could be a stand-out conference booth, a social media campaign that mesmerizes and inspires, a blog that can genuinely improve teacher practice, a flash mob, or anything else exciting, creative, and high-quality that speaks to our audiences.
Write copy that’s on-brand, high-quality, and impactful. There are two sides to Stile’s brand: 1) light, breezy, and playful, and 2) serious about science. You have an affinity for writing in these two styles and use them in the right context. Minimal editing is required, and it never sounds like ChatGPT gibberish or sleazy sales speak.
Ensure Stile is everywhere that matters to science educators. We mustn’t just talk the talk - the team at Stile walks the walk. This means you need to be on the lookout for (or even create our own!) conferences, events, volunteering opportunities, sponsorships, lunches, talks, roundtables, webinars, and more that our team should be a part of to make sure we are 1) supporting educators and 2) making sure they know about Stile! You’ll also help organize the events and
Support Sales with conversion and Success with retention. You’ll listen closely to user feedback and ensure that our marketing helps customers and prospects get the most out of Stile. You’ll also work with designers to create stunning collateral when new products, processes, or features are released so that the customer-facing team can tell a clear and artful story to Stile users.
Continue to hone your own skills and knowledge. We’re life-long learners at Stile, so we always seek to improve our practice. You’ll find yourself reading up on the latest product marketing strategies or learning about the latest trends in education technology. You can also expect to spend time peer-reviewing work with your colleagues, ensuring we’re always delivering the best possible service. The US team will also get together regularly for in-person training and planning.
The Details
About you
Hopefully, this gives you a bit of a picture of the characteristics that we think would help people both enjoy and be successful in this role. This is by no means an exhaustive list, nor do all of them need to be true of you today.
You are mission-driven. Whether early in your marketing career or more experienced, you are filled with ambition and drive to make a big impact in an important industry.
You are an excellent writer. You like using words concisely but powerfully. You can adjust your writing style to suit different audiences and messages. Minimal editing is required.
You are passionate about education. Perhaps you’ve been a teacher, or someone you’re close to is. You have a good understanding of the pressures, pain-points, and joys of working in a school.
You have creative new ideas for campaigns. In fact, this is something you love doing. T-shirts with sassy quotes from students; Bumper stickers that say “Keep Science Weird”; A fluoro-green van with “Honk if you love science teachers” written across the back - Stile’s already done a bunch of fun marketing work, and we need an inventive brain to keep up the good work!
You can manage campaigns project through completion. From the year’s biggest conference to a social media update to a mail-out of Stile’s famous periodic table poster - you know where each piece is and what needs to happen next.
You have social-media savviness to help Stile reach a wider audience. On that note, you’re not necessarily a designer, but you have enough artistic flair to whip up appealing and on-brand social media posts with tools like Canva.
You are energized by working in small, fast-paced teams. You are flexible and enjoy iterating towards a better solution. You love working collaboratively, bouncing ideas around with people, then taking one to run independently. You’re proactive and strategic — a hard worker who gets stuff done.
Don’t meet every single requirement? At Stile we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with all of the points above, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
