Job Summary:
Manage and direct Division Plan Department staff in developing and producing master working construction documents from conceptual drawings for single-family and multi-family residential homes.  Reviews, analyzes and revises working construction documents and coordinates all relevant architectural documentation required for securing construction permits for residential homes.  Work shall incorporate drafting principles, methods and materials of current construction techniques, and current state & local codes and regulations into construction documents that thoroughly communicate required information to all involved parties to construct quality homes. Reviews, analyzes, and provides assistance for resolving field issues for homes under construction.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages and reviews staff’s production of master construction documents to comply with department drafting guidelines, building code and structural requirements, current construction techniques and specifications, and thoroughness of documentation.
Develops, reviews, analyzes, and issues revisions to working construction documents for permitting, prepared on own or by others, to comply with client changes, community specifications, and division standards.
Confers with division personnel including Area President, V.P of Purchasing, V.P. of Sales, and V.P. of Production to establish schedules and priorities of plans to be completed and revised, pricing assistance, plan customizations, and plan documentation requirements.
Conducts field inspections to review adherence to drawings and construction method details; Prepares reports and applies state certification to corrective documentation for remedial construction conditions.
Administers Division Plan staff compliance with company and department employment policies.
Requirements
Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S) in an architecture or construction related field.  A minimum of five years related experience combined with a thorough knowledge of the home building industry relative to building code requirements and construction techniques. 
 
Skills and Abilities:
Creativity and ability to visually communicate ideas relative to construction and specifications; visual orientation and ability to conceptualize and understand spatial relationships.  Knowledge of current home design trends and consumer awareness with ability to visually communicate creative and functional ideas relative to design and specifications.  Computer literacy and working knowledge of AutoCAD Architecture.  Ability to read blueprints and mathematical aptitude to perform complex calculations.  Excellent organizational skills to coordinate a variety of tasks within set deadlines and time constraints with little direction from others.  Good verbal and written communication skills for interaction with a variety of people inside and outside of organization.
