This company one of the longest established metal stamping, laser fabrication and welding companies in the UK, with a skilled workforce of over 100 people.

With a wealth of manufacturing expertise, they have a reputation for consistently producing high quality general and technical metal pressing, welded assembly and laser cut metal parts and fabrications from their 10,000 sqm large UK manufacturing base in Wolverhampton

The Head of Engineering role is a unique opportunity for a talented and ambitious individual looking to take on a leadership role within a rapidly growing manufacturing business. You will play a key role in driving the company’s growth and innovation agenda. You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to deliver on new product introductions, drive innovation, and continuously improve production and process engineering for current products. This will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement engineering strategies, projects, and initiatives that will drive the company forward.

Responsibilities include:

* Leading and managing a team of engineers to ensure the successful delivery of new product introductions, innovation projects, and improvements to production processes

* Developing and implementing engineering strategies, projects, and initiatives that align with the company’s growth objectives and customer requirements

* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in product quality, cost reduction, and manufacturing efficiency

* Providing technical expertise and guidance to support the development of new products and processes

* Identifying and implementing new technologies, processes, and equipment to enhance the company’s manufacturing capabilities and competitive edge

* Ensuring compliance with industry regulations, quality standards, and best practices in engineering and manufacturing

The successful candidate for this role will have a proven track record of success in a similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment. You will have a strong background in engineering, with expertise in metal pressing/ stamping, CNC machining, laser cutting, welding, and assembly processes. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Key requirements

* A degree in engineering or a related field, with professional qualifications such as chartered engineer status preferred

* Demonstrated experience in leading and managing engineering teams to deliver on new product introductions and process improvements

* Strong technical knowledge and expertise in Pressings, press tooling, laser cutting and automation

* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges

* Proven ability to drive continuous improvement in product quality, cost reduction, and manufacturing efficiency

* Experience in project management, budgeting, and resource allocation

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

* Automotive industry experience, including overall responsibility for PPAP submission
