You will be working at Potters Bar Clinic, a service that provides two low secure CAMHS wards (18 beds) and two adult acute wards (25 beds). There is a focus in the CAMHS wards on working closely and collaboratively with families.

As the Deputy Therapies Lead, you will provide leadership, oversight, and supervision to the Psychology team on their delivery of a wide range of activities, including improving the quality of our service users’ lives and supporting recovery. These will include training, supervision, consultation, reflective practice, group and 1:1 therapeutic interventions.

You will be responsible for the overall clinical leadership of the therapies team at Potters Bar Clinic which will include developing of clinical pathways, clinical governance and provision of high-quality clinical supervisions for complex trauma and mental health.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will lead and oversee the specialised psychological programme and the transdisciplinary team where you will provide supervision, specialist teaching and consultation to support the team to deliver high quality, trauma informed and formulation driven care. You will continue to evolve the in-house Psychology group programme offered, which currently use Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy informed approaches.

As a Deputy Therapies Lead, you will be:

Through consultancy, clinical supervision, training, and clinical case management, you will help to create innovative and effective service that adheres to best practice guidelines and delivery of high-quality care.

Working autonomously and in collaboration with the MDT to develop and provide a specialist Clinical Psychology service to patients.

Undertaking specialist Psychological Assessments and undertake psychometric testing using appropriate clinical measures.

Leading on MDT formulation meetings and provide specialist interventions according to formulations based on appropriate conceptual frameworks, NICE guidelines, evidence from research, and in accordance with the wider MDT formulation and interventions.

Continually monitor risk of all patients for whom there is direct contact, or regarding which the post holder receives relevant information, ensure acute risk is managed, liaise with MDT (and in particular responsible psychiatrist) regarding risk, and update electronic record including risk assessment as required.

Acting as internal Care Coordinator for two or more patients

Attending ward rounds, case conferences, CPAs as required, and provide reports in advance for these in accordance with local procedures.

To be successful in this role you will need:

Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology

Experience with working in a CAMHS setting

Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council

Knowledge of current national policies, legislation, and professional standards in practice.

Chartered Member of the BPS

Evidence of engagement in ABI networks.

Post-doctoral level knowledge and application of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis

Experience of teaching, training, and/or clinical supervision of staff, such as Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, trainee Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, and other Multi-disciplinary Team members

Join the team at Potters Bar Clinic providing care for young people and adults with acute mental health needs and personality disorders in an established 24-hour care environment. The CAMHS Tier 4 Low Secure services are for young people aged 13–18.

Potters Bar Clinic is located in a residential area, only one minute drive from the M25 and a short bus ride from Potters Bar Train Station, with a bus stop right outside, making it an easy commute for most.
