Agenda are recruiting for a Lab Administrator/Aide to work within an in vivo laboratory environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting administration tasks associated with conducting experiments and performing day to day animal care and husbandry in line with strict compliance with legislative, health & safety requirements and company SOP’s/ Policies.

Basic Requirements:

* GCSE’s / BTEC National Diploma in science or animal related topics is preferred.

* Some animal husbandry experience is preferred.

* Attention to detail.

* Flexible attitude to work with an ability to carry out tasks unsupervised.

* Ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple and varied tasks.

* Demonstrate initiative and proactively generate ideas.

* Demonstrated sense of integrity and confidentiality

* Ability to work to tight deadlines and to value the importance of teamwork.

* Ability to recognise and communicate the signs of pain, suffering, in the animals including stock and experimental rodents (to observe all animals for the recognition of any variation from normal health and behaviour.

* Animal handling skills and aseptic handling techniques.

* Use of and user level maintenance of equipment such as cage wash.

* Completion of required records/documentation to the highest standard.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for generating experiments on study log, generating folders, cage cards, sample labels etc.

* Responsible for general administrative tasks within the department.

* Support HO record keeping.

* Support goods received and inventory control.

* Support quality checking and archiving for study records and samples.

* Support husbandry with the day-to-day cleaning of the animal facility – Areas and cages as appropriate.

* Be familiar with the main provisions of ASPA.

* Be aware of the standards of care, accommodation, husbandry, and welfare set out in the Code of Practice and take appropriate steps to develop and maintain high standards of care and husbandry appropriate to the species.

* Support the process for ensuring consumables and caging are available autoclaved for use within the facility.

* May accept delivery of animals including health checks upon delivery depending on experience and documented competency level.

* Support cage washing activities.

* Proactive upkeep of personal training records
