The Company

My clients are a very well-established blue chip main contractor operating from their regional offices in Cardiff and Bristol. They work on projects with values up to £10's of millions in value covering new build, refurbishment, general construction, health care, education, commercial, heritage, conservation and residential sectors. Projects are typically located in South Wales and the Bristol region.

Due to their continued success in winning work by both tendering and via Framework agreements, with both new and existing clients they are looking to recruit a Design Manager to join their busy and vibrant team on a permanent basis, working in and around the South Wales and Bristol area.

Very competitive negotiable Salary (based on experience)

The Role

The Design Manager will manage the full whole life design process, overviewing and reporting on design programmes and providing technical support. Working closely with other teams within the business, Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to manage all aspects of the design production

You will be leading the design on exciting projects across many different sectors up to the value of £10’s m, in and around the South Wales and Bristol region. Duties include but are not limited to; Setting design deliverables, schedule drawings, specifications and other design information required for construction. Prepare design programmes, attend / chair design team meetings and issue actions. You must be able to deal with problems in your stride, have a positive outlook and be able to work with individuals of all levels.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a successful track record in a Design Management role and have strong industry experience from either an architectural or project / construction management background, working for a main contractor on similar sized projects.

Communication, attention to detail and working collaboratively are crucial in this role. You will have a positive attitude and confident approach, being able to communicate with people at all levels. The working environment is second to none, so
