Would you like to join a diverse team managing the tools, from concept through to delivery, which enable the successful execution of campaigns in the world leading Orion plasma physics experimental laser facility?

AWE currently have an opportunity for a Software Engineering Manager to apply their expertise to our Engineering Function and contribute towards our successful state of the art Orion facility.

Location: Aldermaston, Reading

Package: £44,990 - £70,000

What will you be responsible for as a Software Engineering Manager?

The management of people and their competencies within your area of responsibility.
Identifying and supporting opportunities for developing staff within your area of responsibility.
Delegate to technically competent staff where appropriate.
Promote knowledge management to maintain an appropriate level of technical capability.
Report activities and progress in accordance with Orion processes.
The management of task prioritisation and tasking the correct people with the appropriate competencies within your area of responsibility.
Identifying and supporting opportunities for developing engineering processes within your area of responsibility.
Provide regular updates on progress and raise any issues or concerns to senior management.
Must be willing to take on secondary roles to aid the minimum staffing for the facility you are located in.

What will you need to be considered for the role Software Engineering Manager?

Proven experience of managing and tasking software engineering staff.
Effective communication and influencing skills.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Experience of providing a resilient approach to driving change and supportive change management.
Knowledge of a software programming system / language, preferably using one of these packages: - Labview, C, VBA, python, java.
Knowledge or experience of project life cycles and configuration control.
