The Infrastructure Team is looking for an experienced Maintenance Plumber to join the Estates Maintenance team at Walton Hall Campus, in Milton Keynes, to start as soon as possible. This position is permanent and will be working full time, is the salary is £25,742 to £28,759 (depending on experience) plus £3,500 allowance per year.

About the Role

Estates is responsible for the management and development of University premises in Milton Keynes and its National and Regional Centres.

The role holder will be responsible for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of mechanical building services to the University. Some of the key duties include; working as part of a team to carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance of LTHW heating systems, fan coil units, ventilation systems, hot and cold water systems and other building services installations.

The maintenance plumber responds to out of hours emergencies on mechanical building services and plumbing systems as part of an on-call rota with the electricians and contract support.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake planned preventative maintenance work on mechanical services (e.g. heating, cooling and air handling systems, hot and cold water systems) recording and reporting all defects
Undertake reactive maintenance work and repairs on all types of building services plant recording and reporting all defects
Undertake minor mechanical and plumbing installations
Undertake preparation work for engineering statutory inspections
Carries out inspections of mechanical and plumbing installations, updating schedules of plant as required.Skills and Experience

This role will suit you if you:

Have completed a craft apprenticeship with City & Guilds or BTEC National Certificate/Diploma (NVQ L2 with key skills), or an advanced modern apprenticeship in mechanical services, heating, ventilation, plumbing, refrigeration or air conditioning
Have proven and relevant post-apprenticeship experience in operation and maintenance of mechanical building services for a public or commercial property/estate management organisation
Are adaptable, flexible, proactive, have good interpersonal and communication skills and be committed to providing a high quality of service to our customers
