Senior Sales Manager
Fife, Scotland
We seek a dynamic and experienced Senior Sales Manager to lead and manage a key part of our client's customer portfolio, driving profitable growth and supporting the Sales Director in various customer sectors. This role involves leading specific sales projects and initiatives to meet company targets for customer retention, winning new business, and achieving profitable sales growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Account Management: Personally manage a portfolio of accounts, setting and achieving annual sales budgets and forecasts with supporting customer plans.
* Customer Relationships: Create and implement customer plans to strengthen and develop long-term, broad, and deep relationships to drive profitable growth.
* Market Understanding: Build and maintain a deep understanding of wholesale, foodservice, and small bakery channels, including competitor landscape and routes to market.
* Strategy Implementation : Set and lead the implementation of sales and marketing strategies for wholesale, foodservice, and small bakery channels through leadership and management of Sales Managers.
* Team Leadership : Lead and manage a team of Sales Account Managers responsible for national accounts, building and sustaining personal relationships with senior contacts within major customers.
* Issue Resolution : Act as the first escalation point for resolving customer issues across the team’s portfolio.
* Budget Management : Lead and manage the annual budgeting and re-forecasting processes to meet agreed deadlines across the team’s portfolio.
* Project Management : Implement and deliver complex commercial and technical projects to defined timescales, liaising with internal colleagues, customers, and external institutions.
* Revenue Optimisation : Lead quarterly “Revenue Optimisation” reviews and agree on key actions with the full Sales team.
Required Skills and Qualifications: Essential:
* Proven leader and manager of sales teams across at least two food categories.
* Results-oriented, focused on delivering consistent, long-term, sustainable, and profitable growth.
* Excellent sales and negotiation skills with a proven second-line account management and new business development track record.
* Collaborative team worker able to build support for ideas, strategies, and tactics.
* Excellent communication, presentation, planning, organization, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
* IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
* Experience in the food industry.
Desirable:
* Experience in supplying large-scale food manufacturers.
* Knowledge of food commodities, including highly variable raw material costs.
* Practical Requirements:
* Full clean UK driving license.
