Mechanical Systems Engineer – Fuel Systems Derbyshire, UK

Programme: Hydrogen combustion engine design and development

Several roles exist for proven mechanical design engineers to join an established engine manufacturing company in Derbyshire, UK.

Overview: Mechanical Systems Engineer – Fuel Systems

The positions will involve systems design engineering and would suit mechanical design engineers that can work at systems level rather than detailed design. (i.e. this is not a CAD or CAE role) It would suit engineers that have worked on engine fuel systems within automotive OEMs or tier 1 companies.

The position will involve the systems design of automotive fuel systems for hydrogen and also diesel combustion engine projects.

This will include systems specification, creating of test and validation plans, design tolerances, DFMEA and problem-solving activities, etc. It will also involve working with suppliers that will provide detailed level designs. Excellent understanding of Fuel systems (fuel delivery, handling, etc) would be needed.

Required experience / knowledge: Mechanical Systems Engineer – Fuel Systems

* A degree or higher qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g. mechanical design, automotive engineering, motorsport, agricultural engineering, etc)

* Minimum of 3 years of fuel systems design experience gained post academia (gasoline / diesel / H2)

* Experience of the design of fuel systems for engines for applications such as automotive, motorsport, agriculture, rail / rolling stock, marine, power generation, etc.

* Experience of systems level design and processes (technical specifications, breaking down requirements, validation activities, DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D problem solving, etc)

Others (beneficial): Mechanical Systems Engineer – Fuel Systems

* Experience in one or more of the following engine design disciplines could also be useful - Valvetrain design (DOHC / SOHC, etc), Gears (timing drive design), CCV (Crank case ventilation), Aftertreatment (e.g., DEF etc), Air handling (e.g., intake manifold, throttle, etc), Major castings, etc.

Note, the Mechanical Systems Engineer – Fuel Systems roles are office based in Derbyshire.
