Educated Appointments are excited to be supporting a leading provider of training, mentoring, and workplace solutions to hire an centre based Functional Skills Tutor for their Preston site to teach English and Maths Functional skills at Level 1 and Level 2.

Job Description

We are looking for a Functional Skills Tutor with experience of supporting learners working towards their Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills Maths and English.

The role of Tutor will be supporting learners undertaking Functional Skills qualifications, supporting learners in our centres to achieve their Maths and English qualifications within a timely manner and to high standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Identify individuals’ training and support needs as part of the induction process, record this in their training plans and plan or modify delivery as necessary.

* Instruct learners in the relevant topic in accordance with their abilities and to the content, level and quality needed to meet the standards of the qualification.

* By interview, observation and portfolio, assess learner’s proficiency against the course syllabus and qualification standards, and ensure the appropriate achievement records are completed.

* Where appropriate, liaise with our Training staff to obtain suitable project work to meet the needs of the programme.

* Carry out regular reviews of learners in order to ensure progress.

* Document and maintain records of attendance, assessment and learner progress, and liaise with appropriate bodies to ensure the learner achieves the award on completion of the course.

* Develop and manage partnerships with local partners, promoting the work that we do.

* Provide information and guidance to the learner.

* Working to quality and completion of targets.

* Organising and maintain documentation of learner’s progress.

* Working closely with the IQA team and maintaining a high standard of quality.

Personal Specification

* Assessor Qualification or willingness to work towards

* Functional Skills Level 2 Maths/English/ICT

* Recognised teaching qualification e.g. PTLLS or equivalent

* GCSE English Language or equivalent (Grade A*-C)

* Communicating Effectively

* Delivering Results

* Working effectively within a team

* Valuing Diversity and Integrity

* Delivering exceptional customer service
