Your New Role 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Mobile Electrician to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account based in the North West of England. The role will involve travel across the region visiting various sites from in Wilmslow up to in Cumbria. 

The salary is competitive, with a company van included in the package.  

At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.

Mobile Electrician plays an important part of a mobile support team that will support prisons across the regions and fulfil the role of AP/RPs as required. 

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday.  

You will be responsible for: 

Planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
Carry out electrical inspection tests and install electrical equipment and wiring across the prisons.
The security of plant, tools and materials and for the safe use of vehicles if needed.
Responsibility for wearing all PPE, for own health and safety and that of others and the public.
Responsible for achieving own performance targets.
Responsible for the management and authorisation of high/low-risk maintenance activity on the FM estate using the Amey Safety Rules as the Authorised/Responsible persons (AP/RP). Training will be provided.
Other maintenance tasks as required.
This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract. What makes this role unique is you will work across the region, becoming the AP/RP. The role of an AP/RP is to implement and manage works in accordance with the Amey Safety Rules for the respective disciplines as required by contractual, best practice and legislative duties. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).

Profile:

We want to hear from you if you have/are:

Appropriate technical qualification eg City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above
BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition (however if you currently only have 17th Edition, we will sponsor you to upgrade to the 18th Edition; terms and conditions apply) 
Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution and installation and testing.
Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations.
Capable of working at heights.
Ability to work alone and use initiative.
Good all-round project management knowledge. 
Experience in electrical maintenance within a commercial environment.   In addition to this, you will need to have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and experience in managing stakeholder relationships at all levels to help you hit the ground running as the role requires adaptability for each site
