Our client based in the Newcastle area are searching for a Purchasing Manager to join their business in a new role. If you are someone who loves interacting with a broad range of people and being heavily involved with organisation of a companies procurement, then this is the role for you.

Job Role
They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to join their team. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, hands-on experience in ERP/MRP systems and as well as excellent negotiation skills.

Requirements
• Explore new supplier opportunities and undertake competitive tendering – effectively negotiation favourable terms for the business
• Understand the supplier base and product specifications
• Liaise with all internal stakeholders to understand production and overall site requirements
• Use our MRP system to manage the critical path from specification, through to ordering, expediting and delivery
• Prepare information for management meetings
• Ensure the purchasing function is operating in line with the objectives of the business to add value, mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings
• Lead a small team to deliver the appropriate support to the business to ensure corporate and business objectives are met
• Review and seek continuous improvement opportunities for the development of purchasing strategies. Analyse and investigate costs, inventory levels, lead times and continuity of supply and quality management
• Build strong business relationships with UK, EU and International suppliers to maximise supply chain effectiveness
• Collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders to identify and address supply challenges, mitigating supply risk to the business
• Develop an overall supplier base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage
• Provide purchasing support for new product development initiatives
• Seek opportunities to improve customer and supplier satisfaction levels
• Carry out regular performance review meetings with suppliers & internal customers

Personal Profile
• Experience working in a purchasing environment
• Experience working within the manufacturing industry - mandatory
• Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
• Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures
• Solid judgement along with decision-making skills
• Prior experience in a similar role
• Must be organised, with attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Collaborative, team orientation with good interpersonal
