Our esteemed client, a reputable civil engineering principal contractor, is in search of a permanent General Foreman to bolster their team in the North East region, overseeing projects in the Teesside, Durham, Tyne and Wear Areas.

About the company:

This well known civil engineering main contractor boasts a legacy spanning over 55 years in the region with their civils north east business delivering circa £35 Million per annum with aspirations to grow this to £40 Million by 2025.

The company undertakes a diverse range of projects encompassing highways, public realm initiatives, structural projects such as bridges, water infrastructure ventures (e.g., spillways, extensive drainage projects), as well as 278 and section 38 undertakings. Project values span from £500K to £40 Million, with the average project valued at £4 Million therefore the ideal company to provide variety in project but also perfect for aspiring engineers to move into management and manage their own project in time.

Person Seeking

* Experience in delivery of large civil engineering schemes, including Highways, Drainage and Structures

* Good IT Skills with knowledge, experience using Microsoft office and other relevant software

* CSCS card – minimum gold standard

* 5 day SMSTS or SSSTS

* Confined space training and Street works Qualification preferred

* First aid at work certificate desirable

* UK driving licence, Clean or low on points

* Good knowledge of construction activities including drainage, deep excavation, road construction, structures and temporary works

Role includes but not restricted to

* Can Independently & Confidently carry out Inductions and TBT briefings

* Operates and promotes safe working on site implementing company HSE standards

* Ensure all works are carried out in line with approved method statements

* Can review risk assessments and deliver RAMs briefing to workforce

* Can complete the relevant daily and weekly permits such as PUWER/LOLER/Permit to dig and deliver briefings to site teams

* Can fulfil role of Temporary Works Supervisor

* Can assist project planner with Project Programme and monthly updates

* Organising the hire and off-hire of external/internal equipment on a daily basis

* Maintains up to date and accurate records of measurement for direct and subcontract works to support QS

* Assists in Monthly CVR with QS, and is transparent in reporting
