GBR Recruitment Ltd, are working exclusively with a highly engineered product manufacturing business, recruiting for a strong & experienced Commodity Buyer to manage the purchasing of various parts, components & materials for a complexed manufacturing process (involving 1,000's of parts & various skilled trades).

As a Commodity Buyer for this well established complexed engineering / manufacturing business, you will develop and maintain commodity strategies, ensuring the business is kept up to date on marketplace commercial and technical developments, as well as potential suppliers.

You will be involved in Collaborating with other areas of the business, maintaining commodity strategies which meet the short and long term aims of the business.

Key skills required is a purchasing / buying professional who has strong cost negotiation, who is an implementer of real cost saving initiatives, focused on quality of supplied products ensuring they are delivered OTIF to meet production demands & clients requirements / expectations.

This commodity will be yours to manage fully driving continuous improvements.

Duties:

* Evaluate cost data and quotation analysis forms and identify cost saving opportunities. Quickly assimilate supplier and business processes to positively impact Procurement performance.

* Confidently enter total cost and contractual negotiations with current and potential suppliers.

* Understand and apply tools and techniques to close cost gaps and achieve value for money whilst maintaining supplier relationships.

* Manage supplier performance through vessel launch and regular build, ensuring that Quality, Cost and Delivery performance are maintained at high levels. In addition, provide enthusiasm and passion for driving continuous improvement in these metrics.

* Provide Procurement/Commercial input into cross-functional teams that effectively contributes to the organisation’s programme goals by applying a confident approach to teamwork.

* Understand and support the quality department in achieving full Quality Approval.

* Constantly strive for process improvement opportunities internally, as well as with the Supplier base, focusing on business ‘Best Practice’ initiatives.

* Identify supplier risk and develop robust risk mitigation strategies where necessary.

* Lead and promote good supplier relationships.

* Play an instrumental role in enabling the function to achieve its business objectives, through meeting or ideally exceeding defined objectives.

* Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by your line manager.

Attributes Desired:

* Well educated to HNC / HND / Degree level or similar.

* CIPS qualified or part qualified (is ideal, not a must have)

* Strong experience of working as a buyer in a complex manufacturing / engineering environment, working with 1,000's of different parts, components & materials.

* Ideally some experience of procuring Engines & Mechanical parts / components (would be useful).

* Experience of successfully negotiating with suppliers (best price / best quality of product to the quantities desired).

* Excel – Intermediate level with the ability to analyse data sets

* Experience using ERP/MRP systems (Syteline/INFOR preferred)

* Excellent & professional communication skills
