NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a People & Operations Lead – Payroll & Pension to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.

The People Operations Lead – Payroll & Pension will act as the organisation’s Payroll SME with responsibility for the delivery of compliant and accurate payroll and pensions processing in partnership with our outsourced providers.  Working with the support of a Payroll Analyst, the role will own the delivery of the full payroll and pensions services as well as internal and external audit activity.

Every day you will … 

Be accountable for end-to-end payroll processing supporting approximately 1200 colleagues.
Ensure the application of legal and company agreements in the field of pay, pension, and work contracts.
Collaborate with Finance to update the payroll systems and make recommendations to improve current processes.
Own the delivery of the full payroll and pensions service leading escalations raised.
Manage the Civil Service/Nest and NHS Pension schemes.
Liaise with several third-party benefit providers eg fleet car and flexible benefits.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

A minimum of three years of expertise as a Payroll Lead or equivalent management experience
CIPP qualified or qualified through demonstrable recent experience in a dedicated payroll role
Tech savvy and experienced with Dayforce
Current knowledge of pay and employment legislation in the UK
Strong Stakeholder management experience
Knowledge of managing a complex variety of organisational priorities and maintaining personal effectiveness throughout.
Knowledge of managing data ensuring strict confidentiality and adherence to data protection, data retention policies and GDPR.
