Job Purpose:
The Senior Estimator will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate and competitive estimates for large and complex commercial refurbishment and fitout projects. This position will lead the estimation process from initial inquiry through to final bid, ensuring all financial forecasts and schedules meet company and client expectations.
  
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and submission of detailed bids and tenders for commercial refurbishment and fitout projects.
Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Interface with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
Identify potential operational issues and redesign workflows as required.
Mentor and support junior estimating staff. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in estimating, ideally within the refurbishment and fitout sector.
Membership in relevant professional body (e.g., Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - RICS) is advantageous. Skills:
Strong expertise in estimating software such as ConQuest, CostX, or similar.
Excellent numerical and IT skills including high level proficiency in MS Excel.
Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
Detailed knowledge of UK construction processes, labor costs, and legal regulations.
Ability to interpret architectural drawings and furniture layouts.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Personal Attributes:
