Southern Education Recruitment is currently working alongside an SEN school based in the Sittingbourne area. The school is a small provision that provides education to secondary aged pupils with SEMH (social, emotional, mental health) and those pupils struggling in a mainstream education setting. Now based across three sites within the Medway and Swale area, the school are looking for a Class Tutor at their Tenyham site.

The Class Tutor will be expected to provide reports to SLT based on subjects covered and student participation. The school are looking for someone highly motivated, ideally with an SEN background (although this is not essential) to teach core subjects. The school supports not just with the academic but also the social development of young people in their care, many of whom struggle with low confidence and self-esteem or engaging in social situations.

* Secondary Curriculum – (functional skill to GCSE)

* Location: Tenyham

* Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 per annum

* Full Time Position 08:00am – 16:30pm

* Ages: Secondary – KS3, 4 & 5

* SEN: Social, Emotional Mental Health

* Additional: Own Transport – Desirable

Key Accountabilities:

* To have the ability to work with students with varying needs including SEN, SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and to work with ability and patience.

* Good knowledge of the National Curriculum with the ability to differentiate for each individual student.

* Ability to keep records, plan your own workload, and prioritise effectively.

* To participate, with other staff, in the comprehensive assessment of children and young people to identify and address barriers to learning.

* Ensure that all written reports & safeguarding issues are reported on the day of the allegation

* Follow the procedures outlined in the outreach folder.

* To provide regular written reports on your work as directed by the Head of School.

* To comply with all relevant legislation and school policies and procedures.

* To work from the school site, or in various places frequented by the public or in the young person’s home.

* Undertake additional duties as part of the School Team and assume other duties which may reasonably be required or delegated by the Head of School, from time to time.

All candidates must:

* Be able to commit to working the hours specified above.

* Provide an enhanced DBS registered on the update service. If you do not hold a valid DBS be willing to apply for a new DBS. The cost of a DBS is a one-off payment of £38 with an annual subscription of £13 per year to the DBS Update Service.

* If you have been a UK resident for less than 5 years, a right to work visa must be provided and a criminal background check certificate must be provided for any country resided in for 6 months or more within the past 5 years.
