The Role
Reporting into the Financial Controller, this is a key role within the business to ensure our payroll function runs smoothly and efficiently. Responsible for around 500 employees, you run the end-to-end input and processing of payroll as well as maintaining records and providing admin support.
The main responsibilities include:
* Input accurately prepared payroll data into the payroll database, including starters, leavers, and amendments.
* Administer and calculate staff pay, overtime, SSP, SMP, Pensions and other adjustments.
* Be responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the monthly payroll and have oversight of the weekly payroll functions.
* Complete all statutory and regulatory monthly and annual returns required by HMRC.
* Liaise closely with colleagues in the finance and HR departments, ensuring that weekly and monthly reconciliations for budget purposes are undertaken.
* Keep up to date with relevant regulations/legislation and determine the impact of any changes, taking action to implement changes where necessary. Ensuring all staff are kept informed of changes which may impact on the organisation or individuals.
* Be a subject matter expert for taxation and pension rules and their successful application to ensure HMRC and Pension Regulator compliance.
* Produce and maintain up-to-date and comprehensive guidance notes on using the payroll database.
* Project manage the integration of new HR and payroll systems alongside HR and Finance ensuring data transfer is accurate and up to date.
* Produce monthly reporting on headcount and FTE and any ad hoc reporting as required.
About You
The role calls for somebody with a naturally organised, systematic approach to complex data management, whilst working within fast paced environments.
Key Essential Criteria:
* Processing experience of weekly and monthly payroll for circa 500 employees
* Payroll policy understanding
* Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel.
* Experience within the manufacturing industry or other fast paced business environments.
* Solutions-focused mind.
* Great communication skills
Desirable but not essential:
* Knowledge of Sage200 & Sage50 would be advantageous.
* Experience of HRIS integrations
* Food industry experience
