Environmental Engineer

Allen & York are delighted to be working with a global chemicals company who have their Headquarters in the US and sites all over the world. They serve a number of sectors including infrastructure, transportation and consumer goods and employ innovation to solve problems and challenges, by working with companies to identify their needs and provide bespoke solutions. Sustainability is integral to everything they do and they're very proud of that and they're now looking to recruit an Environmental Engineer to work on site and ensure compliance with legislation and streamline processes.

Based on their site near Rotterdam, they manufacture products for electric vehicles and they need someone with experience of ISO 14001, who can conduct audits, apply for environmental permits and present findings and reports to authorities and internal stakeholders, plus also identify, investigate and prevent environmental incidents. You don't necessarily need to have worked in the chemicals sector previously, but for a related sector such as manufacturing, oil and gas or industrial.

In addition to the environmental elements, which comprises c.80% of the role, an element of your role will be focusing on sustainability initiatives including CO2 emission reporting and energy efficiency and there's lots of room for you to develop further.

You'll be educated to degree level in an engineering discipline, with knowledge and experience of Environmental Science along with some experience in either the chemical industry or similar sector and be a good communicator as there's a lot of stakeholder engagement involved.

Given the nature of the role, you'll need to be on site four days a week, so you'll have to live close enough and be able to easily access the site and you need to be fluent in Dutch and English as you'll be liaising with government agencies and bodies and the Team on site who are predominantly Dutch speakers.
